Welcome to the Interactive Atlas of Science Literacy demonstrator*. This site consists of five digitized conceptual strand maps based on maps originally published in Project 2061’s popular Atlas of Science Literacy. Each map focuses on an important K–12 science topic and shows how ideas (in boxes on the maps) that are relevant to a topic relate to and build on each other from grade to grade. To begin, go to the “Select Map” drop-down on the upper right and click on a map title. Click on Help at any time for information on map features and navigation.

Browser Requirements: In order to view the interactive maps, you need to use either Firefox 3 (Windows or Mac; download at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/) or Internet Explorer 6 or 7 with the Adobe SVG Viewer plug-in (Windows only; download at http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/).

*We thank the William T. Golden Endowment Fund for Program Innovation for supporting the development of the first five interactive maps. We also thank Dr. André Winter for assistance with SVG programming. Our goal is to secure funding support to develop interactive versions of all the maps found in Vols. 1 and 2 of the Atlas of Science Literacy (AAAS, 2001 and 2007). You can send us feedback by using our feedback form.
